Site Description:

The Able Trust Logo: Dark Blue Text on White BackgroundThe Able Trust, a public-private partnership foundation established by the Florida Legislature in 1990, is charged with the  mission of being the leader in providing Floridians with disabilities fair employment opportunities through fundraising, grant programs, public awareness and education.  The Able Trust serves as the state lead on youth programs including: The Florida High School/High Tech Program (FL HS/HT), Disability Mentoring Day, and the Florida Youth Leadership Forum.

The Florida High School/High Tech Program, a transition program, will be the lead organization in Florida on the grant.  Since 1996, FL HS/HT has increased educational and employment outcomes for students with disabilities by reducing the high school dropout rate of youth with disabilities, increasing their enrollment in a postsecondary institution/training and improving their participation in employment related activities leading to technology careers. Over 1,000 students in 125 high schools representing 36 Florida counties are linked annually to a broad range of academic resources, career development opportunities and on-the-job experiences that will enable them to meet the demands of the 21st century workforce. As a result of the Florida HS/HT Program, 90% of graduating seniors continue their education or enter employment.
